The course continues to focus on the application of NFPA standards for design and installation of sprinkler systems, while students will explore more advanced topics related to sprinkler design. BCIT also offers programs in HVAC and Refrigeration for persons seeking a career in the installation and servicing of the equipment used for mechanical systems.īuilding upon the foundational knowledge and skills acquired in Sprinkler Design 1, this course delves deeper into the sprinkler and standpipe design. The Architectural and Building Technology program is an option for those interested in building construction. Related programsĪpplicants seeking a more comprehensive program in mechanical systems should consider BCIT’s full-time program in Mechanical Systems Technology. The two electives provide an opportunity to obtain greater depth in topic areas such as heating systems and air conditioning or to broaden one’s skills in a related topic. The sixth required course is a project course. A fifth course examines renewable energy alternatives. Four of the required courses provide an introduction to mechanical systems for buildings, methods for calculating heating and cooling loads in buildings as well as the design of heating and air conditioning systems.
